About 🧐 😯
Phil Mazo is an award-winning comedic filmmaker and viral content creator known for his absurd, deadpan tone and twist-driven storytelling—once dubbed “the M. Night Shyamalan of comedy.”
His docu-comedy Replay—about a man seeking redemption after a humiliating childhood TV appearance—was described by Film Fest Report as having “Nathan For You vibes” and by Tribeca 2024 filmmaker Adam Elliott as “firmly in my top 5 shorts I’ve seen this last year.” It is currently playing major festivals including [TBA June 2025! 😯], Montclair, RiverRun, and Bushwick.
During the height of COVID isolation, Mazo created I’m Phil entirely on his own—writing, directing, shooting, editing, and starring in the darkly comic, modern-day Narcissus story of a man who falls in love with his own reflection until the relationship begins to unravel. The film won Best Comedy Short at the Coney Island Film Festival, screened at Lighthouse International, and earned him a 2024 Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Online, Mazo’s digital content has generated over 100 million views across platforms. One of his biggest viral hits, His🫀goes out to you (35M+ views), was hailed by fans as “absolute cinema.”
Mazo began his career in stand-up—performing live with Howard Stern, releasing a Top 40 iTunes comedy album praised by critics for its “light-hearted, highbrow tone to cringe comedy” and “talent for the absurd,” and appearing regularly on SiriusXM’s Raw Dog Comedy and The Bob & Tom Show. His animated stand-up was acquired by Fox Digital.
He is currently producing a true-crime feature with comedic undertones.
